NKYTT Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary
Written by Greg Thompson

In late 2002, a table tennis club in Northern Kentucky was just a dream.  Initiated by a conversation between Jim Bracht, George Thompson and George Kent, it only took a few months to turn the dream into reality.  George Thompson and George Kent, along with Greg Thompson joined forces to search for a location, raise funds to purchase tables and equipment and file all the paperwork to gain their non-profit status.

By February, 2003, members found their first home with a limited number of tables at the YMCA in Newport, Kentucky.  On March 11, 2003, the club was officially incorporated and has continued to grow thanks to the many active members of the club.  The club started with just six tables and very limited playing time.  Since then, it has grown to 12 tables (plus 2 on loan from the Cincinnati club), and has moved to the Fort Thomas YMCA, then Northern Kentucky University, and now its most successful home at the Newport Middle School (as of July 2007).

With over 35 annual members, and regular attendance of over 40 players each practice night, the club is continuing to grow.  Thank you for being part of our continuing success as we celebrate our fifth anniversary!
